{Crowning Glory}

{Crowning Glory} Floral crown and teal to welcome 2013 on petiteplayground.blogspot.com
I wanted to kick off 2013 with vibrant colours, complemented by feminine details, and thought this teal outfit would be perfect for the 1st Jan blogpost!

Teal is a dramatic colour (for me anyways!) that I have wanted to try for a while. When I saw this Portmans skirt on sale for $23.95 (reduced from $99.95 to $39.95 with a further 40% off), I knew it was time to give this ocean-inspired hue a go. The scalloped lace hem definitely sealed the deal for me.

On the topic of lace... I adore the perforated peter pan collar and lace back details on this otherwise nondescript tee. I am a sucker for these sort of subtle yet distinctive touches in clothes. And finally, my favourite part of this outfit has got to be the stunning floral crown, handmade by the incredibly talented KisforKani. It is literally bursting with love and happiness - the perfect accessory to say hello to 2013!

{Blooming}

Sunny days and blossoming flowers are a perfect way to welcome Spring. Seeing the vibrant array of colours on floral dresses, bottoms, tops, jackets, sandals (and the list goes on...) has really urged me to give the floral trend a go. This pastel floral print pant from ASOS looks pretty and fresh without much effort so it's great for a dayout. I wore it to Yumcha...it has been way too long...! ASOS's petite range is growing on me - it is great to buy pants that don't need to be taken up (the fast and free shipping is a plus too!).

Today is Bright Pink Lipstick Day (see here) to raise awareness for breast and ovarian cancer in Australia - are you wearing pink lipstick? I sure am and I think bright lipstick is the perfect accessory for spring.

I am eyeing these floral pieces from Forever New at the moment. I wish I could be bold enough to pull off this jumpsuit!
